Continuing Exploration of the Night Sky
Become an explorer! If you have ever gazed at the night sky, appreciated the beauty of the stars, and wanted to know more, this exploration is for you! The mysteries of the night sky abound and through this exploration, we will develop a working and conversational knowledge of the night sky, its bounty and its secrets. We will explore our universe through the concepts and theories of cosmology. Explore the 'Big Bang' theory and the origins of our universe. Follow the patterns of creation to the formation of our own galaxy, the Milky Way. We will wander from galaxy to galaxy studying their creation and morphology. Through the eyes of modern science and large telescopes we will look at their shapes, sizes and structure and tie their vastness to a timeline for the cosmos. We will be introduced to our galactic brothers and sisters as well as the children of our own Milky Way. If you own or will own a telescope or binoculars, we will explore their use and learn what to look for and how to look through your equipment. Come explore the night sky with us - there are no limits! The final class will be outdoors (May 6 rain date).
